This band started as a four piece in 2009, practicing and writing songs in an empty rental house in Racine. There was no soundproofing, so the neighbors probably still know all the words to “A Hookers Heart”, which is one of the first songs we wrote. All the other songs were written by Tim and Christian in Tim’s basement, and arranged with the band.
People have said we sound like a punk band from the late 70’s. We’ve been compared to the Ramones, the Pistols, and the Dead boys, and also to the west coast stuff like Black Flag, Circle Jerks, and Bad Religion. We’ve also been compared to Social Distortion and US Bombs. Someone that did a review on us even mentioned the Replacements, which is a huge compliment. We don’t necessarily think we sound a lot like any of those bands. We just like loud, fast rock and roll, and that’s what we play.
Our live performances are what made our reputation. They can be high energy, sweaty, drunken disasters, and a hell of a good time. Everyone leaves the gigs with assorted bumps and bruises, but that’s how it is. People want to go nuts at our shows because like us, they’re folks who have been working too hard for too little at crummy jobs they hate so they need a release, and we provide that. They don’t come to a show to see us stare at our shoes and whine about our relationships. They want to dance and slam into us and throw stuff and fall down and spill beer. They want go through the ringer and leave sweaty and bruised and drunk. We stand in front of them, and so we bear the brunt of that but we don’t mind because we’re all working stiffs and we feel the same way.
We are currently a 5-piece. The only remaining original members are Tim Kinyon, who is the bass player and principal music writer and Christian Olson, who does vocals and writes all the lyrics. Steve Hawkins is our recently added drummer. Steve is a talented musician who has played in several bands, and is also a recording engineer.
Our guitar players are Jason Frank, and Paul Tadder. . Jason brings a lot of rockabilly and psychobilly influence. He joined the band after a close friend recommended him to us and is a strong rhythm player. Paul is a trained musician, so he listens to and plays many different styles.
We’ve had several members come and go, all of whom made contributions to the sound and the song arranging.
We have an EP coming out this month on Working Class Records.

PRE ORDER CD NOW!!! RUST BELT DEMONS - "Local 77" CD/MP3
They say art imitates life, but after one listen to this EP by The Rust Belt Demons you will surely agree with me that sometimes LIFE imitates ART! With a
name like Rust Belt Demons the mind conjures up images of rotting factories, working class strife and the neglect of the American manufacturing industry. The music
has the grit that such angst would produce but layered throughout the entire album is fine musicianship and melody that fans of bands like Hudson Falcons, Social Distortion,
Street Dogs will surely appreciate. Look for a new full length CD to come out this year, hopefully on WCR!
